InnoJin at Cornea Conference 2026

InnoJin Inc. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Takenori Inomata), a Juntendo University-born venture, announced on February 20 that it will exhibit at "Cornea Conference 2026 (The 50th Annual Meeting of the Japan Cornea Society / The 42nd Annual Meeting of the Japan Keratoplasty Society)" to showcase its next-generation ophthalmic solutions currently under development.

InnoJin is a startup committed to the vision of "Realizing Human-Centric Healthcare." The company focuses on developing Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) utilizing smartphones and VR technology.

■ Updating Ophthalmology with VR and Smartphones

At this conference, InnoJin will introduce two of its flagship SaMD development pipelines (both currently unapproved):

  • VR-based Pediatric Amblyopia Training Program:
A training program designed to reduce the burden of traditional eye-patching (occlusion therapy). It enhances binocular visual function while allowing children to enjoy games like table tennis and tennis in a VR environment.
  • Smartphone-based Dry Eye Diagnostic Support App (Dry Eye Checker):
An app-based medical device that uses smartphone camera functions to analyze blinking patterns and assist in the diagnosis of dry eye disease.

■ Accelerating R&D for Social Implementation

The Cornea Conference is one of Japan's premier academic meetings focused on the cornea and ocular surface diseases. Through this exhibition, InnoJin aims to widely promote its latest research results and product utility to ophthalmologists and healthcare professionals.

InnoJin is currently conducting specific clinical research to obtain regulatory approval for these medical device programs. The company plans to accelerate the social implementation of "new ophthalmic care free from the constraints of time and location" through digital technology.

■ ICT Startup League
Launched in FY2023 by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) as part of the "Exploratory R&D Support Project for Startup Creation," this support program empowers startups through four main pillars:
1. R&D Funding / Hands-on Support
Subsidies of up to 20 million yen are provided for R&D. Furthermore, the selection committee members stay involved after the screening process to foster growth. For companies rated highly, committee members provide direct advice on business plans and growth opportunities—a support system akin to being a dedicated "fan/supporter."
2. Discovery & Cultivation
The league provides opportunities for learning and networking to promote business growth. It also works to discover aspiring entrepreneurs to expand the startup ecosystem.
3. Competition & Co-creation
Structured like a professional sports league, this platform encourages positive competition where startups learn from each other while competing for necessary funding (up to 20 million yen). It also facilitates "co-creation" through sessions with evaluators and collaboration among league members.
4. Promotion
The league partners with media outlets to broadcast the initiatives of its members. By increasing visibility, it aims to expand opportunities for matching and new business ventures.
