Sukidayo Inc. (Headquarters: Toshima-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yuka Atsuta), a company developing AI-powered communication apps for couples, announced on January 14 that it has raised a total of 85 million JPY in a seed funding round.
The investors in this round include mint, i-nest capital, UNERI Capital, ANRI, and KAYAC Inc. The funds raised will be allocated to domestic and global user acquisition, product development, strengthening the AI infrastructure, and recruitment.
In recent years, the "Couple Tech" market, which uses technology to support relationships between partners, has been expanding, particularly in Western countries and Asia.
The company's AI couple app, "Riamo," has garnered over 300 reviews and a 4.7 rating within just two months of its release. It is already being used in 35 countries, gaining support from diverse couples across borders. With this funding, the company aims to accelerate marketing and localization efforts focused on North America and Asia to achieve global growth.
Sukidayo operates under the mission: "Create a society where everyone stays happy with their loved ones forever."
CEO Atsuta is an expert who has been researching communication between couples since her student days. Following this funding, she commented, "We aim to further improve the accuracy of our AI-based relationship support and create a product that transcends cultural and language barriers."
■ About ICT Startup League
This is a support program launched in FY2023, initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Start-up Creation-type Germinating Research and Development Support Project."
The ICT Startup League supports startups through four main pillars:
1. R&D Funding / Hands-on Support
Up to 20 million JPY in research and development funding is provided in the form of a grant. Additionally, through hands-on support, the selection and evaluation committee members who were involved in the selection process continue to stand by the startups to promote their growth. A support system akin to "fandom" or "championing" (Oshi-katsu) is established, where committee members provide continuous support—such as advice on business plans and offering growth opportunities—to companies they highly value and are determined to see succeed.
2. Discovery & Development
The league provides opportunities for learning and networking to promote the business growth of league members.
It also seeks to discover aspiring entrepreneurs to broaden the base of the ecosystem.
3. Competition & Co-creation
Functioning as a positive competitive arena similar to a sports league, startups learn together and compete to win the necessary funding (up to 20 million JPY). It also provides a space for co-creation where league members can collaborate to expand their businesses through various opportunities, such as sessions with selection and evaluation committee members.
4. Dissemination
The league disseminates information about the members' initiatives in collaboration with media outlets! By letting more people know about these businesses, the league aims to expand opportunities for new matches and chances.
