InnoJin, Inc. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Takenori Inomata), a venture company spin-off from Juntendo University, announced on January 13 that it has been re-selected as a coworking member of the "Japan Innovation Campus (JIC)," a startup support hub established by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in Silicon Valley, USA.
This marks the third time the company has been selected for this program.
The "Japan Innovation Campus (JIC)" is a Japanese startup support hub located in Palo Alto, home to one of the world's most developed startup ecosystems.
InnoJin was previously selected for the program in 2023 and has actively utilized JIC's resources during the initial steps of its overseas expansion. Upon applying for renewal following the expiration of the current term, the company was re-selected based on a high evaluation of its past activities and future expansion plans.
InnoJin is a medical startup known for developing the smartphone app "Dry Eye Checker" and a VR-based programmed medical device for treating pediatric amblyopia (currently under development).
The company states that it will continue to maximize the local networks and insights gained through JIC to further accelerate its initiatives for the global market.
■ About ICT Startup League
This support program was launched in FY2023, initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Project for Research and Development of Startups from the Budding Stage."
The ICT Startup League supports startups through four main pillars:
1. R&D Funding / Hands-on Support
Up to 20 million yen in R&D funding is provided in the form of a grant. Additionally, regarding hands-on support, the evaluation committee members who selected the startups continue to work closely with them to promote growth after selection. For companies that evaluators are particularly passionate about and "definitely want to select," a dedicated support system is built—akin to "fandom"—where the evaluators themselves provide continuous support, offering advice on business plans and growth opportunities.
2. Discovery & Incubation
The program provides opportunities for learning and networking to foster the business growth of league members.
It also expands efforts to discover aspiring entrepreneurs, aiming to broaden the base of the ecosystem.
3. Competition & Co-creation
Functioning like a sports league with positive competition, startups learn together and challenge each other to win the necessary funding (up to 20 million yen). It also provides a space for co-creation where league members collaborate to expand businesses through various opportunities, such as sessions with evaluation committee members.
4. Promotion
The program collaborates with media outlets to showcase the initiatives of league members! By making these businesses known to a wider audience, the league aims to expand the scope for new matching and opportunities.
