Fish Pass Inc. (Headquarters: Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture; CEO: Naruhiro Nishimura), operator of the recreational fishing ticket sales platform "FISH PASS," announced on December 9 that it will exhibit at "EcoPro 2025." This event, one of Japan's largest comprehensive exhibitions on the environment and SDGs, will be held at Tokyo Big Sight from Wednesday, December 10 to Friday, December 12, 2025.
The company will showcase its "Biodiversity DX" solution, which visualizes the diversity of living organisms in a location simply by scooping water, thereby supporting companies' Nature Positive (nature regeneration) initiatives.
Conventional biological surveys have largely relied on capture surveys by experts, requiring significant costs and time.
Fish Pass is now proposing a groundbreaking system utilizing "Environmental DNA (eDNA) Analysis." From samples collected in rivers or lakes, it is possible to detect not only fish but also rare species, invasive species, and even large mammals like bears living in the vicinity. Because the survey can be easily conducted by anyone and analysis results are obtained quickly, it is suitable for a wide range of applications, including corporate CSR activities and local government environmental conservation plans.
During the exhibition, Fish Pass CEO Mr. Nishimura will take the stage for three consecutive days at the "Impact Pitch," held at the "JAPAN IMPACT ECONOMY EXPO" special stage within the venue.
He plans to present his vision and specific initiatives regarding the impact that "Biodiversity DX" will have on regional economies and environmental conservation.
■ ICT Startup League
This support program was launched in fiscal year 2023, initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Start-up Creation-type Germination Research and Development Support Business."
The ICT Startup League supports startups through four main pillars:
1. R&D Funding / Hands-on Support
Up to 20 million yen in R&D funding is provided as a grant. In the hands-on support aspect, selection committee members stay involved after selection to promote growth. For companies that evaluators felt they "absolutely wanted to select," a support system akin to "fandom" (Oshi-katsu) is built, where evaluators themselves provide continuous support through advice on business plans and offering growth opportunities.
2. Discovery & Development
We provide opportunities for learning and networking to promote the business growth of league members.
We also deploy initiatives to discover those aiming to start businesses, aiming to expand the base of the ecosystem.
3. Competition & Co-creation
Serving as a venue for positive competition like a sports league, startups learn together and improve themselves while competing to win the necessary funding (up to 20 million yen). We also offer a place for co-creation where league members collaborate to expand their businesses through various opportunities, such as sessions with selection committee members.
4. Dissemination
We disseminate the initiatives of league members in collaboration with the media! By letting more people know about these businesses, we aim to expand opportunities for new matching and chances.
