Local Topic Guide App "Bashow" Adds Features for Customizing Categories and Speech Frequency ― Enhancing User Experience and Functionality in Preparation for In-Vehicle Applications in the SDV Era ―

Local Topic Guide App Bashow New Features

Bashow Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Masashi Hodotsuka), a company aiming to build an in-vehicle application platform for the SDV (Software Defined Vehicle) era, announced on December 1 the addition of new features—"Liked/Disliked Categories" and "Speech Frequency Settings"—to its "Local Topic Guide App 'Bashow'," currently operating in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

"Bashow" is an app that provides short voice announcements about nearby shops and spots while you are on the move. With these new additions, the app can now be personalized to match the user's preferences and mood.

■ Curating Information with "Liked Categories"

The newly added "Liked/Disliked Categories" feature allows users to arbitrarily set preferences from categories such as "Eat," "Buy," and "Play/Watch." If a "Liked" category is specified, topics related to it will be announced more frequently, while "Disliked" categories will no longer be announced.

Previously, the app only considered location information, but by reflecting user intentions, it can now provide information that is more relevant to their interests.

■ Adjusting Speech Frequency to Suit Your Mood

The "Speech Frequency Setting" feature allows users to select the frequency of topic announcements from three levels: "1 minute," "3 minutes," and "5 minutes."

This enables usage tailored to the situation, such as setting a high frequency when actively seeking information, or a low frequency when treating the app like background music.

The company states that it will continue to add features and collaborate with partner companies to enhance the value of the mobility experience.

■ About the ICT Startup League
This support program began in FY2023, sparked by the "Startup Creation-type Embryonic Research and Development Support Project" by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC).
The ICT Startup League supports startups through four main pillars:
1. R&D Funding / Hands-on Support
Up to 20 million yen in R&D funding is provided as a grant. In terms of hands-on support, the evaluation committee members who selected the league members continue to stay involved after selection to promote growth. A support system akin to "championing" is established, where evaluators continuously support companies they rated highly ("must select") by providing advice on business plans and growth opportunities.
2. Discovery & Cultivation
We provide opportunities for learning and networking to accelerate the business growth of league members.
We also expand the scope by discovering those aiming to start businesses in the future.
3. Competition & Co-creation
Designed as a positive competitive environment like a sports league, startups learn together and challenge each other to win the necessary funding (up to 20 million yen). We also provide a place for co-creation where league members collaborate to expand their businesses through various opportunities such as sessions with evaluation committee members.
4. Dissemination
We disseminate the initiatives of league members in cooperation with the media! By letting more people know about these businesses, we aim to expand opportunities for new matching and chances.
