Kisui TECH Inc. (Headquarters: Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture; CEO: Tamir Blum), a developer of AI agricultural robots, announced on November 28 that it has been selected as a 3rd-cohort company for the "Local Innovation Challenge HOKKAIDO 2025," an open innovation program aimed at solving regional issues in Hokkaido.
Moving forward, the company will collaborate with local governments and businesses within Hokkaido to scale up demonstration experiments in the agricultural sector using its proprietary autonomous AI robot, "Adam."
In Hokkaido, which possesses vast agricultural land, labor shortages and the need for improved operational efficiency have become urgent issues.
Kisui's "Adam" is a robot designed to automate the transport of harvested crops, fertilizer, and agricultural materials, primarily in orchards. Equipped with a patented steering system and four-wheel independent suspension, it is capable of stable autonomous driving even on uneven terrain. This technological advantage was a key factor in its selection for the program.
As the first step in this initiative, a transport demonstration using "Adam" has already been conducted at Nagasaka Orchard in Iwamizawa City, Hokkaido.
The company verified driving performance and transport functions under actual environmental conditions in Hokkaido, confirming the potential for on-site utilization. They also gained insights into region-specific cultivation styles and gathered feedback for future improvements.
■ About the ICT Startup League
Launched in FY2023, this support program was initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Start-up Creation-type Germination Research and Development Support Project."
The ICT Startup League supports startups through four main pillars:
1. R&D Funding / Hands-on Support
Up to 20 million JPY in R&D funding is provided as a grant. Regarding hands-on support, the evaluation committee members involved in the selection process stay close to the startups even after selection to promote growth. A unique support system is established where evaluators who strongly advocated for a specific company continue to provide personal mentorship—offering advice on business plans and growth opportunities—acting almost like dedicated "fans" supporting their favorite team.
2. Discovery & Incubation
The league provides opportunities for learning and networking to encourage business growth for league members.
It also conducts outreach to discover aspiring entrepreneurs, aiming to expand the startup ecosystem's base.
3. Competition & Co-creation
Designed as a positive competitive arena similar to a sports league, startups learn together and compete to win necessary funding (up to 20 million JPY). It also offers a place for co-creation where league members collaborate to expand their businesses through various opportunities, such as sessions with evaluation committee members.
4. Promotion
Initiatives by league members are promoted in collaboration with media partners. By increasing public awareness of these businesses, the league aims to expand opportunities for new matching and future prospects.
