AironWorks Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Co-founder and CEO: Kanibi Terada), a provider of cybersecurity platforms, announced on March 11 the launch of "BCP AI Agent." This new service leverages AI and satellite data to provide integrated support for disaster preparedness, Business Continuity Plan (BCP) formulation, and emergency response coordination.
The service is scheduled to be rolled out to corporations, government agencies, and local municipalities starting in the summer of 2026.
In today's "Era of Compound Risks"—where natural disasters, geopolitical tensions, and sophisticated cyberattacks are increasingly intertwined—the importance of a BCP has never been higher. However, many organizations face the challenge of "paper-only" plans that are neither updated nor tested, rendering them ineffective during an actual crisis.
"BCP AI Agent" applies the data infrastructure and AI technologies that AironWorks has cultivated in the cybersecurity sector. The AI guides users through risk assessment and the setting of recovery time objectives (RTOs) to support the creation of highly effective plans, while also providing automated assistance for periodic reviews.
Furthermore, in the event of a disaster, the safety confirmation process is triggered automatically. The AI aggregates location data and sensor data from dedicated apps, automating follow-ups with unconfirmed personnel and significantly reducing the burden on the response headquarters. By integrating with SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) and optical satellite data, the system can quickly visualize damage at various locations even when physical site inspections are impossible.
CEO Kanibi Terada touched upon his personal roots and experience during the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, stating that the development was driven by a "desire to empower people facing hardship and the ambition to create world-class products."
Moving forward, AironWorks intends to use "BCP AI Agent" to help build organizations that remain resilient against all emergencies—from cyberattacks to natural disasters—on a global scale.
■ ICT Startup League
This support program was launched in FY2023, initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Seed-stage R&D Support Project for Startup Creation."
The ICT Startup League supports startups through four primary pillars:
1. R&D Funding / Hands-on Support
Up to 20 million yen in R&D funding is provided in the form of subsidies. In terms of hands-on support, the selection committee members who evaluated the league members continue to stay involved after the selection process to accelerate growth. For companies that the evaluators were particularly passionate about selecting, the evaluators themselves provide ongoing support, such as advice on business plans and access to growth opportunities—a unique "advocacy-style" support system.
2. Discovery and Incubation
The program provides opportunities for learning and networking to drive the business growth of league members. It also focuses on discovering future entrepreneurs to expand the startup ecosystem.
3. Competition & Co-creation
Designed like a professional sports league, it provides a venue for positive competition where startups learn and challenge each other to win the necessary funding (up to 20 million yen). It also offers a "co-creation" space where league members can collaborate and expand their businesses through sessions with selection committee members and various networking events.
4. Promotion
The league partners with media outlets to showcase the initiatives of its members. By increasing public awareness of these businesses, the program aims to broaden the scope for new matching opportunities and business prospects.
