iiba Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Nana Aizawa), the developer and operator of the child-rearing map app "iiba," announced on January 9 that it has been selected for "S-Startups," a certification program that is part of the "Shibuya Startup Support" initiative run by Shibuya City.
"S-Startups" is a program operated by the Shibuya International City Co-creation Institute (SII) designed to certify and support startups growing from Shibuya to the global stage. In this third term, nine companies were certified and will aim for business growth through demonstration experiments with Shibuya City and private enterprises.
iiba provides an app that visualizes parent-and-child-friendly facilities, services, and experience spots through reviews and videos.
By mapping child-rearing support information held by local governments and sharing real user reviews, the app supports the creation of an environment where families raising children can go out with peace of mind. Following this selection, iiba aims to further strengthen collaboration with Shibuya City and other municipalities and companies to contribute to improving the child-rearing environment for society as a whole.
Regarding future prospects, iiba states that in addition to expanding collaboration with municipalities nationwide, they are also considering the digitalization of government-provided child-rearing benefits and integration with the My Number system.
They aim to build highly convenient child-rearing support infrastructure by developing new features that incorporate the voices of app users.
■ About the ICT Startup League
This support program was launched in fiscal year 2023, sparked by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Startups Creation R&D Support Project."
The ICT Startup League supports startups through four main pillars:
1. R&D Funding / Hands-on Support
Up to 20 million JPY in R&D funding is provided in the form of a grant. In terms of hands-on support, the evaluation committee members who were involved in the selection of league members continue to stay close after selection to promote growth. A support system akin to "Oshikatsu" (enthusiastic fandom) has been built, where evaluators personally and continuously support the companies they rated as "must-selects" by offering advice on business plans and providing growth opportunities.
2. Discovery & Incubation
We provide opportunities for learning and networking to encourage the business growth of league members.
We also expand the base by discovering those who aim to start businesses in the future.
3. Competition & Co-creation
Serving as a positive competitive arena like a sports league, the mechanism allows startups to learn together and improve themselves while competing to win the necessary funding (up to 20 million JPY). We also provide a place for co-creation where league members can collaborate to expand their businesses through various opportunities, such as sessions with evaluation committee members.
4. Dissemination
We collaborate with media to broadcast the initiatives of league members! By letting more people know about these businesses, we aim to expand the field for new matching and opportunities.
