a23s Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yasufumi Sakichi), provider of the corporate legal outsourcing service ALSP "Cloud Legal," announced on December 23 that the service's implementation case study received the AWARD in the Governance DX category at the "SUCCESS STORY AWARD 2025 by Digitalization Madoguchi," organized by Creative Bank Inc.
The award was given in high recognition of the implementation at Medii Inc., a medical DX startup, which successfully established a sophisticated governance structure while balancing both speed and cost.
At Medii Inc., the burden of speed and cost in reviewing the increasing number of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) due to business expansion had become a significant challenge.
By introducing "Cloud Legal," they achieved cost reduction and speed by outsourcing routine NDA reviews. Meanwhile, complex cases are handled by corporate lawyers, establishing a "two-tier governance structure." This realization of a lean legal system within limited resources was evaluated as a "pioneering model of Governance DX for growing medical startups."
"Cloud Legal" is a BPaaS (Business Process as a Service) type legal cloud service that fuses generative AI with a team of experts such as lawyers.
Taking this award as an opportunity, a23s plans to further accelerate the deployment of this solution to solve challenges such as shortages of legal personnel and resources for companies of all sizes, from startups to large enterprises.
■ ICT Startup League
This support program started in fiscal year 2023, sparked by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Program to Generate Startups from Advanced Research and Development."
The ICT Startup League supports startups through four main pillars.
1. R&D Funding / Hands-on Support
Up to 20 million yen in R&D funding is provided in the form of a grant. Additionally, in terms of hands-on support, the selection committee members who participated in selecting the league members will stay involved to encourage growth. For companies the evaluators "definitely want to adopt," a support system akin to "fandom activities" (Oshi-katsu) is built, where evaluators personally provide continuous support, such as advice on business plans and providing growth opportunities.
2. Discovery & Incubation
We provide opportunities for learning and networking to promote the business growth of league members.
We also expand the base by discovering those aiming to start businesses in the future.
3. Competition & Co-creation
Designed like a sports league offering positive competition, startups learn together and improve through friendly rivalry to win necessary funding (up to 20 million yen). We also provide a place for co-creation where league members collaborate to expand businesses through various opportunities, such as sessions with selection committee members.
4. Dissemination
We disseminate the initiatives of league members in collaboration with the media! By letting more people know about these businesses, we aim to expand opportunities for new matching and chances.
