On November 21st, fcuro Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; CEO: Naoki Okada) announced the acquisition of a basic patent related to the core processing of its medical document creation support AI, which aggregates necessary information from hospital systems and generates medical documents using AI. The patent number is Patent No. 7745945, and the registration date is September 19, Reiwa 7 (2025).
The company views this patent acquisition as recognition that the developed medical document creation support AI, "CartAI," is the world's first original technology.
fcuro has been conducting R&D for its medical document creation support AI, "CartAI," since 2020. The ultimate goal of the system is to significantly reduce the burden on healthcare professionals by making it possible to create all medical documents within 60 seconds.
"CartAI" adopts a two-stage structure: an **"Information Aggregation AI Model"** that extracts and standardizes necessary information from clinical data, and a **"Document Generation AI Model"** that creates documents from that information. This enables the creation of high-quality medical documents through an interactive process.
The system has already been introduced in three medical institutions and has commenced live operations, supporting the creation of referral letters and discharge summaries. The company states that it is currently updating the model to support the creation of detailed symptom descriptions as well.
fcuro states that it will continue its commitment to technology development driven by the needs of the medical field to realize "a world without Preventable Deaths" by implementing AI technology in healthcare settings.
■ ICT Startup League
This is a support program launched in 2023, following the "Support Program for Exploratory Research and Development for Startup Creation" initiative by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC).
The ICT Startup League supports startups through four pillars:
① Research and Development Funding / Hands-on Support
A maximum of 20 million yen in R&D funding is provided as a subsidy. Furthermore, with hands-on support, the selection committee members who were involved in the selection of League members will continue to work closely with and promote their growth even after the selection. A hands-on support system, much like "cheering on" (Oshi-katsu), is established where the selection committee members who evaluated a company as "absolutely must be selected" continue to personally provide advice on business plans and offer growth opportunities.
② Discovery and Cultivation
The League will provide opportunities for learning and networking that promote the business growth of League members.
It will also work on discovering individuals aiming to start a business, with the goal of expanding the ecosystem's base.
③ Competition & Co-creation
The League serves as a platform for positive competition, much like a sports league, where startups learn together and strive to improve, allowing them to win the necessary funding (up to 20 million yen). It also provides a co-creation platform through various opportunities, such as sessions with selection committee members, where League members can collaborate to expand their businesses.
④ Dissemination
The League will promote the initiatives of its members in collaboration with the media! By making their businesses known to a wider audience, it aims to expand opportunities for new partnerships and chances.
