Singular Perturbations Selected for King Salmon Project

Singular Perturbations Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & CEO: Mami Kajita; hereinafter "SP"), the developer of the crime and accident prediction AI "CRIME NABI," announced on January 23 that it has been selected for the 6th cohort of the "King Salmon Project" conducted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

In this project, targeting the crowded environment in front of Akihabara Station, the company will apply its AI technology to scientifically evaluate accident risks caused by pedestrian congestion and the effectiveness of security measures. The goal is to build a new AI security model that enables a balance between safety and cost.

■ Visualizing "Security Effectiveness" with Data x AI

In the Akihabara area, ensuring "safety and peace of mind" within a complex urban structure where pedestrians and vehicles intersect has become a challenge due to the increase in inbound tourism demand.

SP has previously provided security optimization AI to government agencies in Latin America and other regions, demonstrating high crime deterrence effects. In this project, they will utilize AI cameras and other tools to visualize people flow and traffic data in high resolution, quantitatively evaluating congestion/accident risks and the effects of security deployments. By demonstrating numerically "which security deployments contributed to ensuring safety," they support the formulation of evidence-based security plans.

■ Taking the "Urban AI Security Model" to the World

Through this project, SP aims to establish an "Urban AI Security Model" that suppresses excessive security measures while maintaining safety.

This model can be horizontally expanded to other cities facing pedestrian flow challenges due to becoming tourist destinations or overtourism. Furthermore, leveraging the support of the King Salmon Project and overseas networks, they plan to accelerate their business with an eye on overseas expansion as an international model applicable to large-scale event security.

■ About ICT Startup League
This is a support program launched in FY2023, initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Project to Support Germination Research and Development for Startup Creation."
The ICT Startup League supports startups through four main pillars:
1. R&D Funding / Hands-on Support
Up to 20 million yen in R&D funding is provided in the form of a subsidy. In addition, through hands-on support, the Evaluation Committee members who were involved in the selection process will continue to work closely with the startups after selection to promote their growth. A dedicated support system—akin to "fandom support"—is established where committee members provide continuous assistance, offering advice on business plans and growth opportunities to the companies they evaluated as "must-select."
2. Discovery & Development
We provide opportunities for learning and networking to encourage the business growth of league members.
We also expand the base by discovering those who aim to start businesses in the future.
3. Competition & Co-creation
Functioning like a sports league, this serves as a venue for positive competition where startups learn together and improve through friendly rivalry to win the necessary funding (up to 20 million yen). We also provide a place for co-creation where league members can collaborate to expand their businesses through various opportunities, such as sessions with Evaluation Committee members.
4. Dissemination
We disseminate the initiatives of league members in collaboration with the media! By letting more people know about their businesses, we aim to expand opportunities for new matching and chances.
