“Bringing Local Fish to Tables 100 Years From Now” Approximately 500 types of marine products are landed along Japan's coastlines. We aim to protect these richly diverse marine resources while revitalizing local economies through the appeal of local fish and enriching people's dining tables. Driven by this vision, we launched as a Kagoshima University spin-off venture in January 2025. In fishing villages facing severe labor shortages due to declining birthrates and aging populations, we maximize the use of digital technology to streamline and enhance efficiency in local fish markets. By advancing digital transformation (DX) in the fisheries sector, we contribute to realizing a sustainable food production industry. This ensures safe, delicious fish can be delivered to future generations under appropriate resource management systems.
We will establish a “Seafood Information Platform” that digitally centralizes the management of information on fish landed at local fish markets, utilizing cutting-edge digital technologies such as AI and IoT. This platform will enable the consolidation of tasks like seafood weighing, market analysis, and sales support, thereby improving operational efficiency. Furthermore, by establishing a system for real-time collection and sharing of landing data, we will achieve more accurate management of fishery resources. This will also contribute to the formation of appropriate local prices and the expansion of sales channels. Through these efforts, we aim to contribute to the revitalization of the regional economy and the sustainable development of the fisheries industry.

| Childhood Dream | In my elementary school graduation album, I wrote that my dream for the future was to be “the president of a computer company.” |
| Influential People, Things, and Events | Professor Katsuaki Nashimoto, my university mentor, passionately taught me the importance and appeal of the fishing industry and the true deliciousness of fish right at the fishing grounds. |
| Motivation, Goals, and Ideal World | I studied fisheries science at Hokkaido University's Faculty of Fisheries Sciences and joined Kagoshima University's Faculty of Fisheries Sciences as a faculty member in December 1999. Since then, I have boarded fishing vessels in various regions both domestically and internationally—including Kagoshima, Shimane Prefecture, Kochi Prefecture, as well as Thailand and Vietnam in Southeast Asia, and Norway in Europe—and have dedicated myself to researching fishing methods alongside fishermen. Furthermore, my work extends beyond catching fish; I have also engaged in research involving diving underwater to maintain and create fish habitats. My years of hands-on field experience have convinced me that Japan's fisheries sector still holds immense appeal and potential. However, its true value remains largely unrecognized. In recent years, I have been striving to build a new fisheries industry worthy of global pride by leveraging rapidly advancing digital technologies to drive digital transformation (DX) within the sector. |
