| Motivation, Goals, and Ideal World |
I studied fisheries science at Hokkaido University's Faculty of Fisheries Sciences and joined Kagoshima University's Faculty of Fisheries Sciences as a faculty member in December 1999. Since then, I have boarded fishing vessels in various regions both domestically and internationally—including Kagoshima, Shimane Prefecture, Kochi Prefecture, as well as Thailand and Vietnam in Southeast Asia, and Norway in Europe—and have dedicated myself to researching fishing methods alongside fishermen. Furthermore, my work extends beyond catching fish; I have also engaged in research involving diving underwater to maintain and create fish habitats.
My years of hands-on field experience have convinced me that Japan's fisheries sector still holds immense appeal and potential. However, its true value remains largely unrecognized. In recent years, I have been striving to build a new fisheries industry worthy of global pride by leveraging rapidly advancing digital technologies to drive digital transformation (DX) within the sector. |
