The average lifespan of pets like dogs and cats has increased dramatically in recent years due to the rise in indoor keeping, the development of nutritionally balanced pet food, and advancements in veterinary medicine. However, behind this progress, a serious issue has been highlighted: the absence of a unified blood donation and transfusion infrastructure. Confronting the harsh reality where lives that could have been saved are lost due to blood shortages, Sayaka Toki, Representative of Vanishing Company Inc., is attempting to build a new "blood infrastructure for dogs and cats" using the power of ICT.

Blut, a dog and cat transfusion matching application

We are developing the canine and feline blood transfusion matching service “Blut”. The veterinary industry suffers from a chronic blood shortage because dogs and cats lack a blood donation system like humans. Our Blut service solves this problem. By registering dogs and cats that pass pre-screening tests as donors, we can quickly dispatch donors to veterinary hospitals in need of blood. Hospitals simply input details like “required blood volume” and “blood type” into the app, and the system automatically matches them with compatible donors.

Representative	Sayaka Toki From 2011 to 2021, I worked at a newspaper company in Fukuoka. Having been involved in animal protection activities since childhood, I aspired to “create a society that values animals.” In 2022, I founded Vanishing Company, Inc. Based on our corporate philosophy of “Creating a Happy Society for Both People and Animals through IT and Animals,” we are developing “Blut,” a blood transfusion matching app for dogs and cats, to address the blood shortage in the veterinary medical field. Blut conducts pre-screening tests for infectious diseases and health conditions, registering only dogs and cats that pass all tests as donors. This service also contributes to preventing zoonotic diseases. I hold the Fukuoka Prefecture-certified One Health Master qualification and give lectures to schools, companies, and local residents about our business and One Health initiatives.
