Freezo is a startup founded at the University of Tokyo that develops control systems that automatically optimize the control of large refrigeration equipment and other thermal equipment using proprietary AI and mathematical optimization technology. This enables effective reduction of electricity costs, which have been on the rise in recent years, while simultaneously achieving energy savings and cost reductions. Currently, we are advancing development and validation efforts for various refrigeration and cold storage facilities, collaborating with various businesses. In the future, we aim to stabilize power supply and demand balance by creating adjustment capacity through the centralized control of multiple refrigeration units. We are committed to contributing to the realization of a carbon-neutral society through the utilization of refrigeration and cooling technology.
In the Startup League, we will work on developing an energy management system for frozen and refrigerated warehouses. Until now, Freezo has developed control algorithms using AI and mathematical optimization technology with the aim of minimizing warehouse operating costs. In this league, we will conduct demonstrations at actual large-scale frozen and refrigerated warehouses to verify the effectiveness of the system. If the verification results are favorable, we will transition to the development of an automated control system, building a mechanism that can optimize warehouse operations in real time. Furthermore, we will validate the system on-site and refine it to a state where it can be introduced as a product, aiming to practicalize a system that balances improved energy efficiency and cost reduction.

Shunsuke MizunoIn third grade, he became interested in the energy field after the nuclear accident in Fukushima. At the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Tokyo, I specialized in electrical engineering and energy engineering. During my third year of undergraduate studies, I developed a snow-powered device as an independent project. Subsequently, I engaged in research on demand response for thermal equipment aimed at stabilizing power grids. With the goal of socially implementing demand-supply adjustment utilizing large-scale refrigeration units, I founded Freezo Co., Ltd. in 2025. Currently, I am striving to balance research and business as a student and entrepreneur. |
